Why human verification?

The internet is full of hackers who have sophisticated software to create havoc on this web site. These software can automatically create thousands of dummy accounts in very short time thus not only overloading our server but also creating unnecessary wasted space. To stop this, we have included a "Capcha" code when joining as a member and also when using certain pages. The code is unique and changes every time you access a page thus making it more difficult to automatically create dummy accounts.

Why a joining fee?

The internet is full of spammers who may join fashion-social.net with malicious intentions. In an effort to reduce the risk, we charge a small subscription fee to deter such members. The fee also covers our hosting and administration costs.

Why do members need to be approved?

We are very serious about ensuring that only genuine members join fashion-social.net. After creating an account, you first need to verify that your email address is correct be replying to the link provided. The administration will then verify and approve your membership. Please note that it may take up to 24 hours to approve a new member. Your patience is appreciated.

Why a member photo is required?

This would ensure that only members that are genuine and has no malicious intention are approved. Photos are also a great way for members to identify each other.

Does fashion-social.net interface with Facebook?

No. Although we have all the necessary API (Application Program Interface) codes to integrate with Facebook, as a private social network we have decided not to implement this feature.

Do members have to make friends with other members?

This is optional. Just like other commercial networks, members have the option to make friends with other members of their choosing.

Privacy

When creating blogs, photo albums, forums etc, members have the privacy choice of: Friends Only, Family and Friends, Friends of Network, Just Me or Public

Why  https://...  instead of http://...

HTTP is short for Hyper Text Transfer Protocol. HTTP is the underlying protocol used by the World Wide Web and this protocol defines how messages are formatted and transmitted, and what actions Web servers and browsers should take in response to various commands.

Hyper Text Transfer Protocol Secure (HTTPS) is the secure version of HTTP, the protocol over which data is sent between your browser and the website that you are connected to. The 'S' at the end of HTTPS stands for 'Secure'. It means all communications between your browser and the website are encrypted.

The main motivation for HTTPS is authentication of the visited website and protection of the privacy and integrity of the exchanged data. HTTPS is used by banks, large corporate sites and most major financial companies as well as reputable websites.

fashion-social.net uses the HTTPS technology and is a secured site.
